Michigan State (-6.5) vs Indiana

The Michigan State Spartans are the only team in the Big Ten this weekend that are favorites on the road. One has to wonder whether they are still getting the benefit of a high early season ranking.

The Spartans have not looked all that great this season, even when they won. When they’ve lost, as they did last week against Wisconsin, they looked downright terrible. On the flipside, Indiana lost last week as well, and their loss to was lowly Wake Forest.

It’s hard to tell which team is reeling more as they go into their second conference games of the year. Indiana’s offense has been pretty good this year, but it made a lot of mistakes last week. Michigan State was long expected to be a team that relied on its defense.

When it comes to a tossup game like this, one has to look at how the two teams have matched up in the past. Not surprisingly, Michigan State absolutely dominates this historical series with a 45-15 record. The Spartans have also won the last seven matchups between the two schools.

I think MSU likely wins their eighth straight but it’s not the blowout some are likely expecting.
