Mike Riley brought his Huskers into Champaign last year, talking all about how he was going to have a problem getting them geared up to play in such an empty and quiet stadium. Turns out he didn’t crack the code as his Huskers lost 14-13 on a last second touchdown.
What was really frustrating for Nebraska football fans was that the Huskers kept chucking the ball up, into a very windy air even though they were having some success running the ball when they tried.
Tommy Armstrong had one of his worst games of his college career against Illinois, completing just 10 of 31 attempts. While the Huskers are coming into Saturday talking about how revenge isn’t on their minds … it’s on their minds.
Nebraska is on the verge of a very special season as they are already 4-0 and are hoping to go 7-0 before they matchup with Wisconsin. In order to do that, they need to beat Illinois. The one problem is that the Illini have a pretty good defense, ranked 40th in the country.
That ranking is even more impressive when you look at their two blowout losses. Perhaps Illinois really has figured out how to stop the Husker offense. They won’t be able to stop it enough on Saturday
