Big Ten Power Rankings Heading Into Week 4
2. Michigan (3-0, 0-0)
For a little while on Saturday, Michigan looked like it was on the verge of the most disastrous loss of the Jim Harbaugh era. The Wolverines fell behind the Colorado Buffaloes 21-7 in the first quarter.
This was despite the fact the game was in Ann Arbor. After coming all the way back in the second quarter, taking a 24-21 lead to halftime Michigan fans started to breath a sigh of relief. Then Colorado took a 28-24 lead early in the third quarter.
Luckily for Michigan fans who have their eyes on a National Title game, Harbaugh’s boys scored the final 21 points to win 45-28.
Except for that first quarter, the Wolverines have looked as dominant as any team in college football. The caveat here is that the school hasn’t played a ranked team just yet. Michigan will play one more unranked team in the form of Penn State this Saturday but the Nittany Lions could give us a better indication as to whether the Wolverines are truly title contenders.
It’s almost a certainty the Blue and Gold are among the best teams in the Big Ten. Offensive and defensively, the team has been overwhelming winning it’s first two games 63-3 over Hawaii and 51-14 over Central Florida. That’s the same Central Florida team that took Maryland to double overtime last weekend.
