While Nebraska celebrated the life of beloved punter, Sam Foltz yesterday at the home opener against Fresno State, his brother’s family home was burglarized.
On Saturday at the game, Nebraska honored Foltz with an incredible gesture. They took a delay of game by choosing to not put a punter on the field on fourth down, as it was the first time that Sam was not there to punt for the team. As a student who was at the game, the experience was one I will never forget. I was a part of painting the large SF27 banner that covered most of South Stadium, and I will say that nothing truly compared to the feeling of seeing the team go out without a punter and having the entire stadium almost in tears.

However, in the midst of this amazing tribute, something truly sad and unfortunate was happening at the home of Foltz’s brother, Jordan, in Greeley, NE. The family was burglarized while they were at the game, no one was home due to the fact that Sam’s entire family presented the first Sam Foltz Memorial Scholarship to Nebraska placekicker Drew Brown.
The Greeley County Sheriff confirmed that someone had broken into Jordan Foltz’s home during the game, stealing a TV from the home and tools out of Jordan’s jeep. The loss is calculated to be at least $1,400. This situation is terrible, and all Nebraska fans are upset. Hopefully, the thieves are found and are brought to justice. All the Foltz family wanted to do was celebrate the life of their beloved family member, but that was taken away from them once they got back from the victorious game early Sunday morning.
Jordan Foltz took to Facebook to talk about the incident, calling people to help try and find the thieves who hurt his family when they were already mourning.

All of Nebraska and the country still grieves with the Foltz family over the loss, and now we all are looking out to help them find these culprits so that they can finally enjoy what was intended to be a special day for them. The people who chose to do this to the Foltz family should be ashamed of themselves. What kind of person robs a grieving family celebrating the life of their son/brother/uncle?
