The Pass Rush Is Coming Around

That unit was decimated when two starters went pro and one heir apparent decided to transfer. Luckily, there is some good young talent on the defensive line and the coaches have been working this spring and fall to mold them into a cohesive unit that can strike fear in the hearts of opposing teams.
John Parrella has done a great job as a recruiter as the defensive line coach, but his grades as a in-game coach aren’t going to come until much later in the season. One piece of good news is that the staff believes they’ve seen real progress already in camp.
Mike Riley talked about that progression after the scrimmage, saying, “I think for sure our defensive line is on the rise. We have got to continue to develop some pass rushers but overall that group looks solid.”
Yes, there’s still some work to do here and there’s likely going to be some regression once the season starts, but I get the sense Riley wouldn’t have made those comments if he didn’t believe he saw improvement.
