Just when we thought that the Nebraska Football class of 2017 couldn’t get any better, Mike Riley was able to get another huge commit, Les Miles’ son, Ben.

Ben Miles, son of Louisiana State University head coach Les Miles, surprised Husker and football fans everywhere with his commitment to Nebraska on Sunday. Ben Miles is currently ranked as the Number 3 fullback in the country (according to 247Sports) and is a three-star prospect. While many of us suspected that he would be choosing LSU, with his father coaching there and his scholarship to the university, he wanted to choose his own path, and this path he believes begins at UNL.

Miles, who had also received offers from Michigan State, Navy, and Boston College among many others, took to twitter to announce to the public about his decision.

With Ben Miles coming to the team, I believe this opens up the door for him to be the next strong fullback that we lost with Janovich moving on to the NFL. Janovich was a fan favorite and outstanding fullback for Nebraska, and there doesn’t appear to be someone this year who will play at the same level as him quite yet. This addition of a highly rated fullback could allow the team to have a strong and successful player fill the position again.

He is one of the many top recruits that we have seen so far to join the class of 2017 Nebraska football team. Others who have already committed include inside linebacker Avery Roberts, pro-style quarterback Tristan Gebbia, and wide receivers Jaevon McQuitty and Keyshawn Johnson Jr. along with a long list of other fantastic up and coming players.

The 2016 season already looks to be a great year for Nebraska Football when looking at some of the impressive new players that Coach Mike Riley was able to recruit. Many fans predict that this season will show great improvement from the team’s not-so-impressive record last season. However, the loss of beloved punter Sam Foltz will definitely play a role in the team’s performance. Hopefully the loss will inspire and drive them to have a successful season.

While the team this fall looks to be a great one, it is hard to not think about the potential of the 2017 season. With all of the impressive recruits that Riley has found already, the class of 2017 could help lead the team to a record-breaking season.

Only time will tell to see what Nebraska Football will be able to accomplish in the upcoming years under Riley’s lead. I, along with all other Huskers fans, am excited to see what other recruits Riley will surprise us with.
