In Nebraska football lore, the wide receiver positions has had a long and winding road towards greatness.

There was a period of time in the school’s history where the wide receiver was little more than an afterthought as an offensive weapon. Sure the team needed the position to be able to block, but when your offense is throwing a total of 15 times per game, it becomes hard to put up eye-popping numbers.

That’s one of the reasons many of the men on this list had such impressive careers. Even without the existence of a passing offense, some of these guys were able to set themselves apart as being the best of the best in school history.

There are also some Nebraska football players who managed to make this list in large part because they had the benefit of being in a passing offense. The Huskers have actually had a passing offense for almost a decade (yeah it seems weird to think that) but there are still just a handful of receivers that have really set themselves apart.

Jordan Westerkamp isn’t on the list of best ever just yet, but if this season goes according to plan, he could certainly be on that list in the coming years. For now, he’ll have to look at the other names on the list and marvel at the kind of seasons they were able to put up.

Certainly, there will be some names on this list that not everyone agrees with. That’s half the fun of making these lists. Let us know in the comments who you would put where and who you would leave off or put on.
