The Nebraska football team is on quite the recruiting hot streak that isn’t belied by the number of commits the team has managed to claim lately.

The team’s last commit might have come in May, but there has been plenty of buzz surrounding the program all spring and summer. That buzz has parlayed into more than a few big time recruits deciding to come see what all the hubbub is about.

Among the players that are interested in seeing what Mike Riley has to offer in Lincoln, is one of the top offensive lineman in the country. Alijah Vera-Tucker announced on his Twitter account that he is coming to see what the Nebraska football program offers on Wednesday, June 8.

The visit to NU is among a bunch of visits Vera-Tucker is going to checking out in the next week or so. He’ll get to come down on Wednesday and stay for the day, before heading out to Colorado. Then on June 11, he’ll check out Texas A&M before heading to the Washington Huskies on June 15.

This doesn’t count as an official visit, which means the Cornhuskers are also looking to get him in this fall. The team still appears to be on the outside looking in for Vera-Tucker but this is one of those recruits NU wouldn’t have gotten into town during the Bo Pelini years.

Coming out of Oakland, Vera-Tucker is ranked as a four-star recruit on both 247 Sports and Rivals. If Riley and company are going to make a run at this kid, they’re going to have their work cut out for them.

Vera-Tucker has been on the radar of some of the country’s biggest programs. Getting a recruit like this is winning half the battle and now the Nebraska football program has its foot in the door. Stay tuned to see how he liked his visit and where the Huskers stand.
