5. Kevin Maurice (DE)

Kevin Maurice being on this list might surprise some because his numbers were pretty pedestrian last year. The reason why he’s so valuable coming into this season is both because he’s a senior and the defensive line depth is so thin when talking about the Cornhuskers’ defense.

He’s likely going to get the chance to put up more numbers with greater playing time. If he goes down, the Huskers’ already thin group on the defensive line is going to be that much thinner, and that could derail a promising season.
