6. Joshua Kalu (CB)

This selection might raise some eyebrows because Kalu struggled at times last year. At the same time, the depth in the secondary is still suspect at best, even if it’s getting better. The Huskers pass defense was terrible to start the year, but it got quite a bit better as the season wore on.

If the secondary is going to continue to build on its successes in the second half of 2015 and carry them into the beginning of 2016, they’re going to need to have consistent play and consistent starts. Kalu should bring both.

Hopefully, he’s able to bring improved play as well.
