2. Nate Gerry (S)

The senior defensive back was the backbone of the defense in 2015, even if he got tossed out of a few games for hits that were questionable. Not only was he someone who was very good at supporting the run and he got better against the pass as the season went on.

Gerry led the team in interceptions, which are arguably a bigger statement on how bad the pass defense was during a decent portion of the season. Nate Gerry could be the kind of defensive leader in his senior season that could turn a defense on the brink into a Cornhuskers defense that is one of the best in the Big Ten.
