1. Ameer Abdullah

The former Nebraska Cornhuskers legend is at the top of the list because he already had a pretty good rookie year. Ameer Abdullah ran for 597 yards and two touchdowns last year.

He also caught 25 passes, but there’s still room to grow. It appears Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell would love for the former Husker to become the featured back and he’s said as much in numerous interviews.

The big problem is an offseason surgery on his shoulder. By all accounts, the surgery won’t stand in the way of his being ready for the regular season, though it could hamper his ability to grab that premiere spot. Still, there’s a chance he could get the job and a 1,000-yard season, and stardom is on the horizon.
