Big Ten: Six teams in Top 25 AP Poll

And then there were two. The Nebraska Cornhuskers knocked off the Michigan State Spartans, giving the Big Ten only two undefeated teams left in college football. While the Spartans, College Football Playoff hopes haven’t been completely dashed, the loss puts Michigan State behind plenty of 1-loss teams vying for the Top 4.

Of course, the win didn’t put the (4-6) Huskers in the Top 25 AP Poll, but their victory shook up the Top 25 rankings on Sunday. With six Big Ten teams in the Top 25 of the AP Poll, it was a successful week for the conference, despite the Spartans’ loss.

Shockingly, the No.2 Ohio State Buckeyes dropped from the top spot. The Buckeyes were a consensus No.1 team from the start, but their hold at the top of poll is over after Week 10. Remember, the Buckeyes have the longest winning streak in the country, but they were unable to fend off the oncoming train named Clemson Tigers.

The other undefeated from the Big Ten is the No.8 Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes moved up two spots.  They have a road date with the Huskers in the season finale. As it stands, the Huskers could face their second undefeated team in the month of November.

The aforementioned Spartans dropped to No.14 in the AP Poll. They are one spot ahead of No.15 Michigan Wolverines. Both teams will face the Buckeyes before the season ends. Due to all of these tough games, there’s a chance the Big Ten won’t have any undefeated teams left.

The No.23 Wisconsin Badgers moved up three spots in the Top 25. They are directly followed by the No.24 Northwestern Wildcats. The Badgers have a bye week before their date with the Wildcats in two weeks.

The six ranked Big Ten teams are split evenly between the east and west divisions.
