5. Jordan Westerkamp – WR: From the beginning of the season, the Nebraska Cornhuskers had trouble keeping their receivers healthy. The trend will continue into the game against their toughest opponent to date.

Jordan Westerkamp has had no such issues staying on the field. The junior wide receiver leads the team with 49 catches. He’s also tied with Alonzo Moore’s five touchdown receptions for the team lead. Currently, Westerkamp’s 13.4 yards per catch are in the top five for the Huskers’ receivers. He’ll have to be even better vs the stout Michigan State defense.

As the most consistent receiving threat for the Huskers this season, Westerkamp has been steady, but not quite spectacular. Still, a few drops on the season have plagued the receivers in critical moments. If the Huskers are to pull an upset of this magnitude, they’ll have to make plays from start to finish. Any lulls in offensive production will cost the Huskers.

The aforementioned Moore should be back in the lineup, while Brandon Reilly will give it a go on Saturday night. Moore missed last week’s game. Then De’Mornay Pierson-El sustained a gruesome injury in the first half. Therefore, the Huskers could be thin at wide receiver.

It’s one of the main reasons why Westerkamp has to have his best game of the season. Along with Stanley Morgan, the two players might be the most explosive threats to breakdown Michigan State’s pass defense.
