Nate Gerry

1. Nate Gerry- Safety: Nate Gerry leads the Nebraska Cornhuskers with three interceptions. He’s also fourth on the team with 40 tackles. Every game Gerry has an impact on the game, but he’s critical when he forces interceptions, and fumbles.

Due to Northwestern’s propensity to run the ball, Gerry and the rest of the secondary will be called upon to make plays at the line of scrimmage. However, he must beware of some trick plays this weekend. Why? As we mentioned earlier, the Wildcats have scored five points per game in the last two weeks. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Therefore, the entire Huskers’ secondary must be aware of any trick plays.

While Gerry is fourth on the team in tackles, his running mate, Byerson Cockrell leads the defense with 43 tackles. They have been active all season against the run.  Together, they must help the corners in the passing game.

So far, Northwestern hasn’t been a strong passing team, but they may have something against Nebraska. Remember, the Huskers have given up over 300 passing yards in six games this season. In addition, no lead has been safe for Nebraska. Therefore, Gerry and the secondary have to be dominant Saturday afternoon.
