Terrell Newby

5. Terrell Newby: I-back– Clearly, the Nebraska offense is running in peak condition when Newby hits his stride. In his two biggest rushing games of his career, the Huskers scored 48 points. During games where Newby struggled to get off, the entire offense had problems. Therefore, it’s imperative the Huskers get the running game going against the Wildcats’ defense.

Newby had dominant first quarters in his best games, and it gave the entire offense confidence. Last week, he started the game with a 65 yard touchdown run against Minnesota. From there, the offense didn’t look back. He scored a second touchdown in the second quarter of the game

Northwestern gives up 154 yards per game on the ground. They are aggressive against the run. So far, the Wildcats have 43 tackles for loss this season. The offensive line and Newby have to do their best not to have too many negative plays in the running game.

If Newby is able to break a few long runs early, the Huskers may knock the Wildcats back on their heels. However, if the Huskers struggle early, the Northwestern defense can become suffocating.

Basically, if Nebraska wins the run game, they should win the real game.
