Nebraska secondary needs help

3. The entire secondary: At some point in time, the Nebraska secondary has to take a stand against the pass. In three games, the Huskers have given up three straight 300 yard passing games. Two of those games have turned into losses. With games coming down to the final play, Nebraska needs to look for any edge to survive. Right now, the secondary is barely treading water.

Nathan Gerry leads the Huskers with two interceptions. He’s also tied for the lead with 18 tackles. Gerry was battling an illness earlier this week, but he should be fine for tomorrow’s game. As a safety roaming the middle, Gerry has to make some big plays for the Nebraska defense on Saturday.

The corners have really had their struggles in every game. Daniel Davie has been repeatedly attacked by the opposing offenses, and he wilted under some of the pressure. All week, the coaching staff had the secondary in a big competition for playing time. Starting spots are up for grabs, but they will all see some action.

Joshua has been the other starter at corner, but his position seems to be solidified as of now. Kalu has Nebraska’s other interception, while being a strong defender against the run.

No matter who is out there, the players must get it done.
