In a perfect world, the Nebraska Cornhuskers would be in the top three of the current Big Ten rankings. They would also have an undefeated record. Instead, the Huskers are (1-2), and in the bottom half of the conference rankings.

More from Husker Corner

Due to Nebraska’s second loss on the last play of the game, the Huskers enter the final weekend of September, needing a win to reach .500 on the season. If they aren’t careful, Nebraska could let the season slip away. At that point, the Big Ten rankings would be the least of Nebraska’s worries. There’s but so many close encounters one team can take before you start to feel snake bitten. However, the Huskers still have plenty of goals to accomplish this season.

The Huskers haven’t started conference play yet, and they will have some opportunities for a few big wins. Currently, there are five undefeated teams left in the Big Ten. Nebraska faces three of them in the regular season. They also have dates with No.22 Wisconsin and Minnesota later in the season. Therefore, the Cornhuskers have plenty of chances for redemption this season. First, they have to take care of their final non conference game against Southern Mississippi.

Here are the updated Big Ten rankings.
