Five Nebraska players to watch vs Miami
Tommy Armstrong
1. Tommy Armstrong- QB: Tommy Armstrong has been a pleasant surprise for the Huskers’ offense. Armstrong will be doing battle with Miami’s Brad Kaaya, in one of the intriguing quarterback match ups of the weekend.
Most people have been impressed with Armstrong’s passes, but he hasn’t brought the running game since learning the Mike Riley offensive system. Will the Huskers bring it out on Saturday. Honestly, Armstrong doesn’t need many designed run plays. However, he does need to make plays with his legs when the situation calls for it. There’s no reason to hold the ball for long periods of time. The key to the game is getting first downs, and establishing drives that lead to touchdowns.
During some points of Saturday’s contest, Armstrong has to be a football player, and not a quarterback. He’s already shown the knack of being a great football player, by making a few soul crushing blocks in the first two games.
As long as Armstrong stays poised, he’ll have a great game. The only concern is dealing with a hostile crowd, possibly. It is Miami after all.
