4. Michael Rose-Ivey- Linebacker

Oh how the Nebraska Cornhuskers missed Michael Rose-Ivey in their loss to BYU. It’s not hard to miss Rose-Ivey’s replacement Luke Gifford, in the final shot of the BYU “Hail Mary,” but his presence was missed throughout the season opening loss.

Rose-Ivey came up with 10 tackles against South Alabama, and promptly earned a “Blackshirt” on Monday. Now he has to show why he’s considered one of the top linebackers in the Big Ten. Rose-Ivey will be critical against the Miami running attack, and he will also have a chance to cause havoc in the backfield. He had one tackle for loss last week.

Leading a group of young linebackers, Rose-Ivey must be at his best against Miami, and help get the young guys line up correctly. Understanding assignments will be the biggest key for Saturday’s contest.

For the first time all season, Nebraska should have their entire linebacker unit in the rotation. Let’s see if Rose-Ivey can lead them in tackling for a second straight game.
