The Nebraska Cornhuskers come into their first road game of the season with a (1-1) record. After dismantling the South Alabama Jaguars 48-9, there are five Nebraska players to watch when the Huskers face the undefeated Miami Hurricanes. Starting quarterback Brad Kaaya, and running back Joseph Yearby, the Hurricanes have plenty of offensive fire power.

For Nebraska to be successful on Saturday, the whole team must play well. However, the Huskers also need stellar performances from individual players. Currently, the Cornhuskers are a 3.5 point road underdog, according to CBS Sports. Additionally, if the Huskers don’t receive standout performances, they could be back home with a losing record.

Before the season started, there were plenty of expectations for the Huskers’ offense. Despite not making many plays in the passing game in prior years, there were high hopes for the receivers. So far, they’ve lived up to their ability, but there seems to be another level the Nebraska pass catchers can reach. Therefore, don’t be surprised if the receivers have a coming out party, with an abundance of big plays on Saturday.

Only Jordan Westerkamp and Alonzo Moore have caught touchdown passes on the outside, but the contributions have been across the board. Brandon Reilly is tied with Westerkamp with 10 receptions apiece, but Reilly’s been a heartbeat away from making a few game breaking plays. In addition, freshman Stanley Morgan is close to becoming a star. However, it’s the maturation of Lane Hovey, giving Nebraska another replacement for the injured De’Mornay Pierson-El.

Defensively, the “Blackshirts” have been adequate. In both games, front four has pressured the quarterbacks, and done well against the run. They are only giving up 75 rushing yards per game. However, the sacks haven’t come easy. Entering Saturday’s game with Miami, Nebraska only has five sacks. Still, they shouldn’t let the lack of stats deter the team from getting after Brad Kaaya. Otherwise, Nebraska’s defense will be adding to their 346 passing yards per game.

Now let’s get to the most important players on Saturday. Here are the five Nebraska players to watch vs Miami.
