Blake Headley started off Wednesday where he left off on Tuesday…by running to 3rd base. Headley crushed 2 TRIPLES again on Wednesday against the Northern Colorado Bears. After yesterday he was asked what he took away from the weekend in Houston, “We can play with anyone. We can’t play to the competition. We have to play our game.” Headley was certainly playing HIS game today.
It was another beautiful sunny day in Lincoln and game 2 of the series with Northern Colorado was another win for BIG RED, 3-9. Huskers had Zack Engleken from the Kansas City area start on the mound and he lasted through 3.1 innings. He worked the zone and recorded 2 strikes and only allowed 3 hits by the Eagles, but one of them a 2 RBI homer.

Jake Meyers came in relief of Engelken and pitched for 2 innings. His high energy on the mound allowed only 2 hits but put two on in the 6th and Jeff Chestnut came in striking out the next 2 batters to get out of the inning without damage as the Huskers were leading 4-2 at that time.
Christensen came on in the 8th and despite allowing a double, finished strong with 2 Ks to end the inning. Fisher on in the 9th and grabbed 2 Ks and a pop up to left field to end the game.
Zac Heath started for the Bears and this was his only appearance. He surrendered 7 hits in 2 innings. FGCU followed up with Kirkman, Cook, Mulvaney and Loutzenheiser.
HEY BATTER!: Dirty Doublers for the Huskers were Schleppenbach, and Darby (who seems to be gaining momentum at the plate). Triple – Headley with 2 and freshman Schriber with a late 3 RBI triple in the 7th! Singles for the rest of the Husker lineup except for Reveles.
