Husker Wrestling & Coach Manning looking to PIN his 200th Career win

If you’ve been following our wrestling articles you know we’ve been keeping an eye on the quest for Husker Coach Mark Manning to hit 200 dual wins record and earn the title of The Winningest Wrestling Coach in school history. He is chasing the record of Tim Neumann who coaches from 1985 – 2000 and posted 199 dual wins.

How has he done this? If you look at the current squad, he has all 10 Husker starters in spots in the 2nd Coaches Panel Rankings per the NCAA on Feb. 13. As a team, Huskers are ranked 10th in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll, 10th by InterMat and 13th by WIN Magazine. It breaks down like this:
- #125 Tim Lambert ranked 11th
- #133 Eric Montoya ranked 28th
- #141 Anthony Abidin ranked 7th
- #149 Justin Arthur ranked 20th
- #157 James Green ranked 3rd
- #165 Austin Wilson ranked 30th
- #174 Robert Kokesh ranked 1st
- #184 TJ Dudley ranked 17th
- #197 Aaron Studebaker ranked 20th
- #Heavyweight Collin Jensen ranked 23rd
Huskers are on the road to finish out their regular season against Drexel on Saturday and Princeton on Sunday after finishing strong at home.
Saturday’s action will have a live video feed on Drexel Dragons TV. Match starts at 10 am Saturday. Sunday the action can be followed on TrackWrestling.com and via twitter feed @HuskerWrestling. The matchup against Princeton starts at 6 pm, Sunday.
Drexel is 8-11 on it’s season and are lead by #133 Kevin Devoy who is ranked 16th by InterMat. He was also named Colonial Marble and Granite Athlete of the week by Drexel Athletics after bringing his record to 30-4. He will compete against Husker Eric Montoya who is a sophomore with a 15-10 record.

Princeton brings a couple of ranked grapplers to the mat: #197 Abram Ayala 12th, and #165 Jonathan Schleifer ranked 20th. Ayala will match up with Studebaker who is currently 25-7 on the season and is peaking at the right time of the year. Other good matchups will include Tiger Brett Harner facing Husker TJ Dudley at #184. Dudley is 22-5 on the season.
Husker favorite Robert Kokesh will be looking to retain the Pin King title. He has 6 this season, followed closely by TJ Dudley with 5 and Aaron Studebaker and Collin Jensen have 4.
