Huskers will play in Houston College Classic
By Kelli Anne
In a press release today put out by the media department of the Houston Astros, tickets are now on sale for the Houston College Classic Field, March 6-8. You might ask why this is important in Huskerland. It’s not just that Husker head baseball coach, Darin Erstad played for the Astros, but it’s because the Huskers will be playing in the tournament.

the 15th annual Houston College Classic will take place at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros in a 3-day, 6-team, 9-game tournament. The Classic boasts a strong lineup led by No., 2 LSU and No. 3 Houston, as ranked by Baseball America in their preseason poll. This tournament has continuously drawn fans, top ranked programs and scouts from every Major League organization on a yearly basis.
“The Astros are extremely proud to host the Houston College Classic” said Houston Astros President Reid Ryan. “It’s one of the best preseason college baseball tournaments in the country and represents a great kickoff to our 2015 season.” You can purchase tickets online at www.Astros.com/CollegeClassic. or by calling Ticketmaster 1-877-9ASTROS.

Huskers play Texas A&M at 3:35 pm on Friday, March 6, Hawaii at 12:05 pm on Saturday, and match up against #2 LSU Sunday at 11:05 pm. Husker Corner will be down in Houston to update you on the game highlights!
This is a BIG test for the program that has come along under Coach Erstad. In fact, Huskers are projected to play in the Lincoln Regional this year according to D1Baseball this year. This is a far cry from their 30-25 record (9-17 conference) in 2011 before the coaching change. Huskers were 18-6 in the Big Ten last year. Also in their projected regional bracket for 2015 are #1 Vanderbilt and Stony Brook, who you may remember beat out LSU in their super regional in 2012.
The full schedule for the Houston College Classic games March 6-8 are as follows:
Baylor v Hawaii 12:05, NU v Texas A&M 3:35, Houston (#3) v LSU (#2) 7:05
