Husker Wrestlers in action tonight & Sunday

It’s coming down to the wire for the Husker Wrestling team. Big Ten Championships begin in only a month in Columbus, Ohio. But this weekend another duo of duals is set as Big Red takes on Michigan Friday night at 7pm in Ann Arbor and then travel to take on Sparty Sunday morning at 11 am. Both can be watched on BTN Plus or find updates on Twitter via @@HuskerWrestling.

This will be a battle of #10 Nebraska against #16 Michigan. These are the last conference matchups of the season. There are 7 ranked Wolverine opponents from the bottom to the top. Huskers will have their hands full taking on #8 Rossi Bruno at 133, #13 Alec Pantaleo at 149,#11 Brian Murphy at 157, #10 Domenic Abounader at 184, #10 Taylor Massa at 165, #8 Max Huntley at 197, and #7 Adam Coon at HWT. So far Coach Manning has kept his team on the winning edge of the matchups with Michigan. Another win puts him closer to history as well.

Michigan State is 4-9 on the season. Big winners for them are Mitch Rogainer at 125, Roger Wildmo at 165, Nick Proctor at 174 [who would be up against our currently undefeated Robert Kokesh!] John Rizqallah at 184 and Chris Nash in the heavyweight division. Husker road trips have been good, even great so far winning 11 away duals in a row.

More from Husker Corner

KEEP TRACK OF: Our own 8th ranked Husker Anthony Abidin at 141 is currently 22-2 and 10-0 in duals. Keep an eye on the 157 weight class as No. 4 ranked James Green takes on Michigan and No 11 ranked Murphy. Green is one of Nebraska’s 100-Win club and not on the Top 10 Career Victories List. #1 ranked Robert Kokesh is 4th in school history with 130 career wins. He needs 3 more to tie Bill Scherr for 3rd on that list. Aaron Studebaker at 197 looks to add to his 5 match winning streak.

And Coach Manning needs 4 more dual wins to become the winningest coach in Nebraska. He is currently at 196-74-3. It’s going to be a long grueling weekend but Huskers will come out on top and maybe even with the pin. GO BIG RED!!!
