39 pairs of siblings play sports in the Big Ten, 26 pairs of siblings currently play football in the B1G Ten. The Huskers have had their fair share of siblings. Most recently the Huskers had several brothers on the roster at the same time like Jake and Spencer Long, and Ben, Jake, and Sam Cotton all coached by their father, Barney Cotton.

ullbacks Jeff and Joel Makovicka, probably the most loved Cornhusker walk-ons from Brainard, Nebraska (pop 350). Kris Brown was an All-American kicker and his much younger brother, Drew Brown, is now working toward the same goal. Drew was just 3 years old when Kris graduated in 1999, after being a part of two national championships.

Of those 39 pairs of siblings now playing in the Big Ten, only 6 sets are twins. Nebraska boasts a set of twins currently and they play volleyball: Amber and Kadie Rolfzen. They are the twin towers at 6′ 3″ and outside hitters from Papillion, Nebraska. They are finishing up their sophomore year.
Twins in Husker football have had a successful history too. Think back to Josh and Daniel Bullocks who played defense for the Huskers. In 2005 Daniel Bullocks was a strong safety who was ranked 1st nationally in sacks (50) and tackles for losses (124). His twin, Josh Bullocks is the younger of the two by a minute and he entered the draft in 2004 as One of the top Defensive Backs in Nebraska football.
Husker Softball just graduated a set of twins in Taylor and Tatum Edwards. Taylor was a 4 year starter at catcher and Tatum was a stellar pitcher for the Cornhuskers. Tatum was one of the top dual-threat hitters and pitchers in Nebraska and in NCAA History. An interesting factoid is that they both homered in the same game 9 times over their careers.
Now the Huskers are set to sign more twins to the roster. Khalil and Carlos Davis met with Coach Mike Riley and Coach Banker on Friday night, January 16th. The Blue Springs High School players had committed earlier to Nebraska but backed off when the coaching change happened.
Missouri coaches have been chasing after them diligently and they were set to visit the Mizzou campus at the end of the month. That visit is now canceled and the Davis twins are going to enroll in Nebraska. Carlos is currently ranked as the 5th best prospect in Missouri. Khalil is the 3rd ranked prospect even though he suffered a mid season injury.
After meeting with the Husker coaches, they announced that they are fully committed to Nebraska which is great news for the Blackshirts. Clearly they are glad the recruitingprocess is over as Khalil called it “a hassle.” He is the more outspoken of the twins despite being the younger of the two. A welcome addition to the D Line, their aggressive and competitive style of play has been compared to Maliek Collins, currently on the Husker roster.

Defensive Line is one of the positions that is most important for the Huskers to fill as the national championship game proved this year that the important games are usually won up in the trenches. Having these two big guys joining the Blackshirts will enable the team to make progress toward their goal of re-establishing themselves as a dominating force.
Signing Day is Feb. 4th and will be here before you know it. We’ll keep you updated from HuskerCorner.com but in the meantime, GO BIG RED!!!
