Hank Hughes is the name you will need to know when talking about the Defensive Line of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Coaches were made available to the media in a round table event on Thursday, Jan. 8. (literally they were sitting at individual round tables). I really like this guy. His approach with the media is no nonsense and his first priority is stopping the run. My favorite quote is when he said “…and if it’s a passing down you have to be able to affect the quarterback.” Sounds like he’ll be bringing the same type of style he used at Cincinnati and UConn here to Lincoln.

By now you’ve all heard Randy Gregory has declared for the draft. And unless you are lucky to live where there isn’t any internet, you know DE Avery Moss was denied the ability to enroll back at UNL. So who ISoming back and who does that leave HH’s D Line?   Clearly the Huskers need a pass rusher. 2015 seniors returning next year with meaningful playing time are Kevin Williams and Jack Gangwish. Juniors are Greg McMullen, Maliek Collins, Vincent Valentine and Kevin Maurice. Coach Hughes will be meeting with these guys this week to understand them better. After that group, that’s where it falls off for the D Line.
