It’s Time for . . .Husker TUMBLE and RUMBLE!
There will be lots of Husker action Friday night at the Devaney Center when NU Wrestling and NU Women’s Gymnastics join forces to host Tumble and Rumble. The Purdue wrestling squad comes calling in a conference match up with No. 12 Nebraska who have seen lots of success this season on the mats. The Lindenwood Lady Lions gymnastics team make their first ever visit to Lincoln to match their skills with the Lady Cornhuskers. The events begin at 7pm (CST) and both teams would love for Husker fans to “pack the house”!
Husker wrestling returns home after placing 4th at the Southern Scuffle over New Year’s Day in Chattanooga, Tenn. Robert Kokesh brought home the champions trophy at 174 pounds. His impressive record (21-0) mid-season includes three tournament titles. He was just named #B1G Wrestler of the Week! James Green took first place honors in the 157 pound weight class. His record now stands at 18-1, winning his second tournament title of the 2014-15 season. Kokesh and Green lead a Husker squad of very competitive wrestlers, currently ranked fifth in the conference, into battle against a Boilermaker team that are seeking to improve upon their 7th place ranking in the Big 10 conference.
Husker women’s gymnastics officially opens their 2015 season at Tumble and Rumble. They are ranked No. 9th in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll nationally and picked No. 2 in the Big Ten preseason Coaches’ Poll. In fact, Husker gymnasts Jessie DeZiel and Grace Williams have been named to the Gymnasts to Watch list for the 2015 season.

NU returns two All-American stars in 2015 – senior Jessie DeZiel and junior Hollie Blanske. They have combined for eight All-America honors overall plus five first-team honors. Great excitement awaits as freshman Grace Williams begins competition on the Husker squad. The Michigan native was crowned the 2014 J.O. Nationals all-around Champion. 2015 will be highly competitive in the Big 10 and head coach Dan Kendig, in his 21st year at Nebraska, has amassed a group of talented athletes who are ready to handle the conference and make a run into the post season.
