After Christmas Bowl Game TV Guide and odds

Now that the meal has turned into leftovers and it’s time to return those gifts that weren’t quite the right fit, it’s also time to snuggle in and watch some more college football! Here’s what our thoughts are on the matchups.
Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl has the Fighting Illini playing against La Tech Bulldogs in Dallas, TX Dec. 26th on ESPN at noon. It’s safe to say the orange fans will be greatly outnumbered. It’s time to cheer for the B1G Ten so that we have an argument for a stronger conference presence. They finished strong beating Penn St and Northwestern but struggled on defense. Bulldogs battled and lost against Marshall for the C-USA title. As much as I want a win for the B1G I don’t think it will be close. Vegas agrees La Tech – 6.

Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit on Dec 26th at 3:30 pm ESPN. Another B1G Ten matchup puts Rutgers Knights against the NC Tarheels. I hope I’m wrong but I see NC’s passing game taking the Knights 107th ranked pass defense to the woodshed. Vegas says NC – 3.
Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl on Dec. 26th at 7 pm on ESPN. NC St Wolfpack versus the UCF Knights. I will wear my CWS hat from the NC ST game but I fear the Knights are so stingy on defense I don’t see the Wolfpack getting the win. Vegas thinks UCF – 2.
Northrop Grumman Military Bowl Dec. 27th at noon on ESPN. It’s Cincinnati Bearcats versus Va Tech Hokies in this game in Annapolis, MD. I like the Tech defense but not sure they can keep QB Kiel from tossing the game over to the Bearcat victory column. I’m going with the Bearcats (my high school mascot too) and Vegas thinks Bearcats – 3.

Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas on Dec. 27th at 1 pm on CBS. It’s the game from HELL pitting the AZ St Sun Devils against the Duke Blue Devils. Neither team was spectacular during the year but the “heart” is most likely with Duke so I’m going with them (plus my sister is a HUGE Duke fan sooo….yeah). Vegas has AZ St -7.5.
Duck Commander Independence Bowl on Dec 27th at 2:20 on ABC. The Robertson clan has their own bowl game and it features Miami Hurricanes versus the SC Gamecocks. If I’m betting dollars in Vegas I’m going with Miami and their QB Kaaya and RB Johnson but I won’t be “cheering” for them. Just can’t. Cocks have 109th ranked run defense. Enough said. Vegas says Canes – 3.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27th at 3:30 on ESPN. Boston College Eagles takes the field against B1G Ten’s Penn St Nittany Lions. This one isn’t going to be a high scoring affair. Both teams have stingy defenses but the edge goes to the Eagles. Penn St has a chance if they can capitalize on turnovers and can shut down the Eagle run game. Vegas is sticking with the Eagles – 2.5.
