Well what we all knew soon into the season was that he was a special player. Everyone else knows it now too. De’Mornay Pierson-El picked up BIG TEN All-Freshman Team honors today for his special teams play. He’s done it all it seems. He has caught passes, returned punts and even THROWN a pass for a touchdown. In the Northwestern game he was part of a successful reverse play where he received the ball from Ameer Abdullah, and then threw the ball to a very open Tommy Armstrong Jr. for a touchdown.

Kenny Bell said, “he’s going to be a great player here.” Well that’s pretty high praise. The key going forward is undoubtedly keeping him healthy and finding the right balance for him with all of his talent. He even handles himself well at the press conferences. I mean it’s not easy to get grilled by our press corps and don’t forget, he’s just a freshman. This freshman comes from Alexandria, Virginia and admits he’s not a big fan of the cold but he loves the Nebraska Husker culture. He took over the Nebraska Football Twitter account on Nov. 13 to answer questions.

When asked how the Husker culture had influenced him and how would he describe it to a recruit he answered, “No words it’s just something you’d have to see for yourself to understand!”
Pierson-El led the Big Ten in total punt return yards, return attempts and touchdowns and yards per game according to CFBStats.com. At the Iowa game the freshman was instrumental in starting the momentum shift to the Huskers. His 80 yard return for a touchdown sparked the Huskers and put them ahead 28-24 at that time.
Huskers are feelin' it!
