Akeem Hunt has emerged as the leader of Purdue’s suddenly potent running attack, and just in time as Darrell Hazell’s program needs a hero or two.

After putting together four solid outings out a row, he came back down to earth with a 66-yard effort on 21 carries against Nebraska.

You can’t deny that he has been a big part of the remedy helping to cure what had been a diseased Purdue football program.

In fact, that’d be an out and out lie. He leads all Boilermaker rushers with 616 yards and is tied with Austin Appleby with five touchdowns.

The duo combinesfor 32 percent of Purdue’s scoring output this year.
