On the GORGEOUS fall day at Haymarket Park, Darin Erstad (aka Chewbacca) and the Cornhusker Baseball team are taking the field in costume. If you can’t make it to the park, get over to Twitter and check out the fun! Erstad was named the 23rd head coach of the program back in 2011. Clearly he’s keeping things loose on the field with the final game. Phrases like “Telletubby goes yard” and “Taco still pitching” are making the media rounds for what should be some great video highlights later!

The White Squad took the series opener despite a Red Squad 4-0 lead in the 1st inning. Sophomore from Clive, Iowa, Ben Miller and Sophomore from Red Wing, Minnesota, Ryan Boldt both took the ball yard with homers. In the bottom of the 4th, Senior Catcher Lincoln native, Tanner Lubach hit a 2-RBI single and a Sophomore from Fishers, Indiana, Wes Edrington dropped in a 2-RBI TRIPLE to keep up the offensive attach. White won the day with a 13-8 victory.
Monday night the Red v White game continued. The Red Squad got the lead and kept it this time. Freshman Scott Schreiber stepped in and brought in Steven Reveles and Blake Headley on a 2-RBI single, later scoring on a wild pitch himself. Freshman Hurler from Yutan, Nebraska, Nate Fisher pitched SIX strikeouts in just 3 innings of work.

The final tie breaker is going on in Lincoln as you read this. Fans can vote at the park for the Best Costume.
UPDATE: Bo Pelini won (I think that’s fundamentally unfair) Blake Headly. Get the gallery of pictures here: http://www.huskers.com/PhotoAlbum.dbml?PALBID=1250658&DB_OEM_ID=100
