Two turnovers hurts the starting Nebraska quarterback’s grade here. Armstrong, Jr. completed 9 of 13 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. However, he threw an interception up for grabs.
On the offending play, he apparently predetermined his target and threw to a spot with no Husker around. He also gave up a fumble when he carried the ball much too loose on an option keep.
That said, Armstrong should be credited for making some good throws, including his opening touchdown pass to Kenny Bell from 40 yards out and a quick dump off to Ameer Abdullah.
Red marks aside, No. 4 did have a major contribution, running the ball for 96 yards on 13 carries.
Tim Beck should be given some extra credit for play design, specifically for a new wrinkle that saw a jet motion man come across the formation and fake the handoff.
Armstrong then took off on a quarterback keeper in the opposite direction, often resulting in big gains.
