Big Ten Football: Week 3 Power Rankings
4. Penn State (5)
Mandatory Credit: Jim O
Last Week: 13-10 win over Rutgers
The Nittany Lions’ offensive line continues to be an eye sore.
Its inability to establish a rushing game or protect quarterback Christian Hackenberg may end up ultimately costing the Nittany Lions majorly this season.
So far, Hackenberg has been able to bail them out with late forth quarter leadership not seen in many sophomores.
His chemistry with wide receiver Geno Lewis came up big with under three minutes to go versus Rutgers. The Hackenberg-Lewis connection hooked up twice on big pass plays to set up a go ahead five-yard touchdown run from Bill Belton.
Penn State has found ways to win this season behind its clutch quarterback and new wide out duo of Lewis and DaeSean Hamilton.
It’s hard to imagine this luck will continue through the season if those two can’t get help from the running game.
This Week: Massachusetts (Sept. 20 – 3 p.m. on BTN)
My Prediction: Penn State 49-14
