Defensive Backs B+

The defensive backs had an up and down game. Josh Mitchell was dinged for a defensive pass interference penalty and was shrugged off by wide receiver Josh Harper.

Daniel Davie and Byerson Cockrell both had very good games. The latter’s hit on Fresno’s running back when the Bulldogs threatened to score was a thing of beauty.

Safeties Corey Cooper and Nathan Gerry also had decent games, though Cooper inexplicably stumbled when chasing Brian Burrell on his 66-yard touchdown run.

Perhaps the best notation about the secondary’s evening was the plethora of young talent that got snaps.

Guys like Joshua Kalu, Chris Jones, Boaz Joseph and Jonathan Rose saw significant playing time, especially late in the game. The reps could prove invaluable going forward for such a young group.
