Nebraska Football: Five Huskers Fall Camp Predictions
3. Sam Burtch Will Claim A Starting Spot
Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports
You read that right. Slammin’ Sammy Burtch, a junior walk-on that made some impressive snags last year, will be one of the starters.
Kenny Bell and Jordan Westerkamp more than likely take the other two spots thanks to athleticism (Bell) and arguably the best pair of hands on the team (Westerkamp).
Burtch is part of a special brand of wideout walk-on that Nebraska’s gained lately.
Brandon Reilly’s another guy that’ll get the opportunity to haul in long bombs, but Burtch has shown the ability to take a lick while the ball sticks.
As the Huskers go up against the more physical back sevens in the Big Ten, they need a guy who can pick up those chunks of yardage and isn’t afraid to get popped while scoring six.
That’s why Slammin’ Sammy’s the man come kickoff versus Florida Atlantic.
