A DeSoto, TX native, Thomas holds offers from Clemson, Indiana, Maryland, Wisconsin, Wake Forest and was offered by Nebraska in late May.

The 6’2″ 180-pounder’s talents aren’t unlike what offensive coordinator Tim Beck originally wanted to do with Jamal Turner.

Considering Turner’s checking out after this season, Thomas wouldn’t be a bad pickup. A redshirt year would also give him the opportunity to trim down his body fat percentage and likely get to Turner’s current 185 pounds, if not solidify his own 190.

Beck still has pull in Texas, but if he and Rich Fisher want to get Thomas, they’re going to have to beat out Clemson’s Chad Morris and former Nebraska top recruiter Bill Busch to do it.
