Illinois isSin Cara

Sin Cara is a masked luchador that has been portrayed by two different men over the past few years.

The name translates from Spanish to English as “faceless”. Wouldn’t you say “faceless” describes the Illinois Fighting Illini pretty well? Head coach Tim Beckman’s team hasn’t made a lot of noise during his first two seasons at the helm, despite having some decent players on the roster.

Last year’s quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase (a four star recruit in many services’ eyes) had a statistically sound season. He ended the year with a 66.7 percent completion rate, throwing 3,272 yards and 21 touchdowns. He added 271 yards rushing and four more scores on the ground.

A lot of flash for a team that went 4-8 on the year and just 1-7 in conference. You see, the Illini are a lot like our masked friend. A lot of sizzle, but not much steak.

Sin Cara is known to be a high-flyer with lots of cool moves, but he doesn’t win a lot of meaningful matches. He’s also been known to botch a few movesand even his own ring entrance.

Much like Heath Slater/Purdue, we shouldn’t expect much from Illinois or their WWE counterpart.
