A great question about Husker football was brought up during Friday’s edition of Drop the Mike with Mike Welch on Lincoln’s 93.7 The Ticket: Which game of the 2014 season will help measure the progress of Bo Pelini best?

There were some fascinating takes as fans looked at both the upcoming season and the Nebraska head coach’s body of work. Assuming the offense hums under Tim Beck while the defense shows maturity and development of talent, the schedule sets up for some traditional Pelini speed bumps to be smashed through.

Fans who dialed up Welch (one incredibly drunk, but that made the predictions all the better) gave some of the responses you’d expect. The visits to Michigan State and Wisconsin were mentioned as was how poorly Husker fans were treated in Madison (but that’s another article entirely).

One person in particular was thinking big and pointed to the conference title game. Let’s run over five games that’ll give us an idea of where Pelini’s team sits both during the season and what they’ll tell us about his career.
