From Nebraska baseball’s early season victories over NCAA tournament teams Oregon State and UC-Irvine to one of the hottest finishes prior to the tournament in college baseball, Darin Erstad’s club has created major buzz.

Yes, the Huskers have had an incredible 2014 season. Five times during the year a Nebraska player took home a weekly conference honor and it could be argued that more were deserved. The awards weren’t isolated to one position group either, as both position players and pitchers garnered praise from the league.

An exciting sign for the future is that Nebraska claimed two freshman of the week honors this year as well (Ben Miller and Ryan Boldt). This marks the first time such an award has been given to a Husker since 2011.

A crew that has been dubbed “The Boys” was announced as a participant in the NCAA tournament as expected, a testament to the work put in during the regular season and Big Ten tournament this past week. The team will make the trek to Stillwater, OK and will be the first since 2008 to compete in an NCAA regional.

Who were the movers and shakers for this year’s edition of Husker baseball? Who were those straws that stirred the proverbial drink? Who were the top 5 players for the 2014 Nebraska Baseball team?  Let’s take a look.
