Every Ten Years: Win A National Championship

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Winning conference titles used to be Nebraska’s thing, but yes, leagues aren’t the only things that have changed over the past 10-15 years.

Adjusting for “college football inflation”, an elite team from a Power Five conference should be able to bring home two or three league trophies in a five year span.

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow will be as hard as ever to snag with the implementation of the College Football Playoff. The Huskers can’t have an above average team, but perhaps even a top three team to hoist the crystal football high and be littered in confetti.

No Big Red fan truly expects another “60-3”, but a process that results in the ultimate prize once per decade sure would hit the spot. More importantly, it’s a process that can easily be accomplished by a program that wants it badly enough.
