Wager Wednesday: Week 6 Predictions Against The Spread

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Week six of the 2013 season is here, and it brings a few good matchups to watch this season. Three top 25 battles and a few other games that should be competitive.

Just a reminder, these picks are for entertainment purposes only. Bet at your own risk. All lines are from MGM/Mirage as of 12 am Eastern on October 2, 2013.

The Fearless Five:

#15 Washington Huskies at #5 Stanford Cardinal

Spread: Stanford -7

Who to take: Stanford

The Cardinal finally put together a solid four quarters on both sides of the football last weekend, and they should be able to handle more than a seven point win at home against Washington. The Huskies are a team on the rise, but Stanford could be the most underrated top five team in the country. The argument could be made that they are better than conference foe Oregon and two time defending BCS Champion Alabama.

#4 Ohio State Buckeyes at #15 Northwestern Wildcats

Spread: Ohio State -7

Who to take: Ohio State

Ohio State is another team that could be ranked at the top sot in the polls. While Northwestern is another team on the rise, they haven’t reached Buckeye level yet. Yes, ESPN Gameday will be there. Yes, the crowd will be electric. No, the Wildcats will not keep this game within seven points. Give the points and enjoy the game.

#25 Maryland Terrapins at #8 Florida State Seminoles

Spread: Florida State -16

Who to take: Maryland

I like the Seminoles to win, just not by 16 points. This spread is tempting if you are looking to lay the points, but a 14 point w for FSU should be expected. Maryland is a good team and should be able to stay within the spread. Take the points.

Ole Miss Rebels at Auburn Tigers

Spread: -2

Who to take: Auburn

Ole Miss is coming off of a big loss to Alabama, and they have been exposed for the team they are. Average. It’s not like they are a bottom tier squad. They just aren’t swimming with the big boys yet. Auburn is a team that will make noise by the end of the season. I also like them to win outright at home against the Rebels. The additional two points are a bonus.

#22 Arizona State Sun Devils at Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Spread: Arizona State -6

Who to take: Notre Dame

This pick is a gut pick. After last weeks loss to Oklahoma I expect the Irish to rebound. Not only that, but of all the ranked PAC 12 teams Arizona State seems like the most suspect of the bunch. They have a quality team, but a six point favorite on the road seems a bit off. Take the Golden Domers and the points.
