Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Wyoming Cowboys:

Nebraska leads all time series 6-0

Average Score: Nebraska 40  Wyoming 14

Saturday will mark the seventh time The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Wyoming Cowboys have faced off.  The first meeting between the teams took place on September 29, 1934 in Lincoln. The Cornhuskers walked away with a 50-0 shutout win. It would be another 34 years before the teams met again, this time with former Cowboys coach Bob Devaney leading the Huskers to a 13-10 victory.

Fifteen years later Wyoming came to Lincoln to face Tom Osborne’s Huskers. The Scoring Explosion team of 1983 proved to be too much for the Cowboys to handle, and Nebraska walked away with a 56-20. The following season Nebraska once again won in blowout fashion coming out on top 42-7. A decade passed between the fourth and fifth meetings between The Huskers and Cowboys. On October 1, 1994 Nebraska quarterback Brook Berringer made his first start for the Huskers, and led them to a hard fought 42-32 win at Memorial Stadium.

In 2011 Nebraska went to Laramie for the first time, and took on Wyoming at War Memorial Stadium. The Huskers were led by junior running back Rex Burkhead who rushed for 170 yards on just 15 carries. He also gashed The Cowboys for a 45 yard run just a few plays into the game and scored twice for The Huskers. Nebraska won the contest 38-14.
