Missouri City, TX. Fort Bend Marshall High School star linebacker,  Deon Hollins chose to go to College Station to see Texas A&M over coming to Lincoln to check out the Husker’s program. Usually that would mean he is more interested in the Aggies than the Huskers. According to the four star prospect, that’s not the case at all.

“The biggest reason behind me going to A&M over Nebraska this weekend, it was a better financial decision for me,” Hollins Said. “It was just a better situation for me and my family to go up to Nebraska at a later time. I am not more interested in Texas A&M than Nebraska. I will try to make it up to Nebraska for one of their spring practices. If coach (Ross) Ells thinks it’s best for me to come up for the Nebraska Spring Game I will do that then.”

Hollins did say he enjoyed his visit to College Station.

“The A&M visit was nice,” Hollins said. “The facilities there were top notch. One of the best things for me was how the coaching staff  and players were really family oreinted.”

Hollins has developed a great relationship with Aggie defensive coordinator Mark Snyder.

“I talked to coach Snyder a lot on my visit. We have a great relationship,” Hollins said. “He told me that I was the number one prospect on their radar right now. That was a big deal to me. It weighed heavily on my mind when he told me that.  I was the only defensive player that received a scholarship on Saturday, and didn’t commit.”

Hollins played both defensive end, and linebacker in high school, and isn’t sure where he will fit in at the next level.

“Some schools are recruiting me as defensive end, some are recruiting me as a linebacker,” Hollins said. ” Coach Snyder didn’t know exactly how I would fit in their scheme,  He showed me a couple ways to use me. It was cool.”

The 6-foot-2, 225 lb. Texas native said the Aggies being in his home state does not help their chances at all.

“Staying in state is not a big deal to me ,” Hollins said. “I would actually prefer to go out of state. My mom wants me to stay close to home. So I have to take what she says with a grain of salt. Ultimatly I need to make the right decision for me.”

Hollins holds offers from over 20 schools, and has a favorite five, but not any one school is at the top of the list.

“I have a list, and I am interested in a lot of schools,  but my list really isn’t in order,” Hollins said. “It is Nebraska, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Washington. I am not sure where I am going to take my visits to.  My coach just told me to weigh out all my options, and wait to decide after the spring. I definitely want to see Washington and Nebraska for sure.”

Hollins plans on keeping his summer even more busy than his spring.

“I am going to visit Washington and Oregon this summer,” Hollins said. “As far as camps go,  this weekend my parents and I plan on sitting down and listing them out. Then we will decide which ones are the best for me to attend.”

In his junior season, the 4 star prospect recorded 70 tackles, 22 for loss, and 15 sacks.
