Hunt Not As Solid of a Commit As He Once Was

Westlake, California High School’s, Dashon Hunt was recently named the No. 31 player in the country by Fansided.com. The four star prospect is currently a UCLA commit, but has turned his attention to other schools.

“My commitment to UCLA is not as solid as it once was,” Hunt said. “I committed to the previous coaching staff, and I really don’t know much about the new staff that’s there.”

The 5-foot-10, 175 lb. cornerback holds offers from the Bruins, Nebraska, and Washington

“I am just in the dark about this new staff at UCLA, I don’t know much about them,” Hunt said. I plan on going to meet them (the new staff) soon. UCLA has a great academic program. My family wants me to go to a great academic school, as do I. It’s in California. I am used to the weather out here. Those were some of the reasons I committed early.”

Despite the new staff Hunt is still committed to UCLA, but is planning on looking at other schools.

“I still plan on taking all five of my official visits I am just not sure where to yet.” Hunt said. “” I know for sure I am taking one to Nebraska. I would like to go to Oregon, if they offer. I want to go to Washington.I am not sure about the other two. I am not taking an official to UCLA because I already know the campus. I want to see the colleges that I really like and could see my self going to.”

Being such a highly touted player it is odd that he has not received more offers, but the talented defensive back does have his eye on one school that has not offered him yet.

“I would really like an offer from Oregon,” Hunt said. ” I just got done talking to the Oregon defensive back coach, coach (John) Neal. I really like him. I really hope they offer. By what he was saying it sounds like they are going to offer me.”

Other than the Ducks, Hunt said he is waiting on an offer from the Cal Bears as well.

Of his three current offers, the No.4 rated cornerback in the nation said he knows the least about the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

“I don’t know that much about Nebraska, but I do know they have a really good history of getting their DB’s to the NFL,” Hunt said. “They have a really great campus. I know they have a great football program.”

Hunt said that Nebraska’s academic history would be a big deal to him, and that the climate change from the west coast to the  Midwest would not be a big deal.

“If I do end up taking an official to Nebraska I want to see their facilities, and the school campus,” Hunt said. “I would like to see the area the campus is in, and see the weather and stuff is like. A lot of big and little things.

“Weather is something I could deal with. I am from the east coast. Snow isn’t really a big factor to me. I could deal with it if I had to. If Nebraska’s the right fit for me, that’s the school I would go to.”

In his junior campaign the talented DB did double time as a running back as well. He had131 carries for 1,275 yards, and 18 rushing touchdowns.  On the defensive side of the ball he had 63 tackles, 6 interceptions, 10 pass deflects, and 1 forced fumble.
