Nebraska’s Most Wanted
By Jimmie Allen
With National signing day 28 days away, Nebraska has landed 11 commits. One of the biggest questions coming into this recruiting class was how would Nebraska moving to the Big 10 Conference effect their ability to recruit the state of Texas. Last season the Huskers landed 5 recruits from the state of Texas. The Huskers currently have one player from the lone star state.
Here is the list of current Husker commits, and then the list of the most sought after recruits that are uncommitted with Nebraska offers.

NEBRASKA’S MOST WANTED
1. Andrus Peat, Offensive Tackle, Corona Del Sol High School, Tempe, Arizona: Peat retakes the top spot on our list this week. He is the only current 5 star recruit considering Nebraska. He will play in the Under Armor All-American game tomorrow. There is no word on if he will commit to a school during the game or at half time. Peat is 6-foot-7, 305 lbs, and plays with a mean streak. He will be the grown jewl of this class if the Huskers can land him. If peat announces tomorrow that he will come to Nebraska, it could cause a snow ball effect for a huge class. Peat’s cousin Avery Moss announced Monday at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl that he would be coming to Nebraska. That could have been the key to landing Peat.
2. Devin Fuller, Quarterback/Athlete, Old Tappan High School, Old Tappan, New Jersey: Fuller topped the list on last weeks Nebraska’s Most Wanted. He is listed as a four star athlete by Husker Corner.com. He will make an impact on any school he chooses. Fuller wants to play quarterback in college, and that could hurt Nebraska’s chances for the two sport athlete. Nebraska returns current starter, and junior to be Taylor Martinez at quarterback. The also have former High School All-American quarterback Jamal Turner currently playing wide receiver, and 4 star quarterback Tommy Armstrong solidly committed. Fuller who was once considered a Husker lean, may be looking in other directions. He will play in the U.S. Army All-American game on Saturday Jan. 7. No players in that game that have a Nebraska offer are expected to announce their decision.
3. Vincent Valentine, Defensive Tackle, Edwardsville High School, Edwardsville, Illinois: Valentine jumps 3 spots on our list this week, because he is probably one of the biggest locks of the class. He is down to 3 schools, Nebraska, Illinois, and Florida. He plans on taking a visit to Illinois and Florida before making his decision, but has Nebraska as his leader right now. He has a very strong relationship with Nebraska defensive coordinator John Papuchis. To me Valentine is the biggest lock right now of any recruit.
4. Jordan Diggs, Corner/Safety, Island Coast High School, Cape Coral, Florida: Diggs would be the crown jewel of the defense in this class if the Huskers could land him. Diggs has had a solid couple days of practice with East team for the U.S. Army All-American bowl. He did end up on the wrong end of a high light reel in practice this week being blocked by a linebacker playing running back. Diggs is not set to make his decision at the game, but is down to five schools. He is considering Nebraska, Michigan State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.
5. Alonzo Moore, Wide Receiver, Winnfield High School, Winnfield, Louisiana: Moore fell one spot on this list this week, not because we think he is swaying away from Nebraska, but quite the opposite. Moore is down to two schools, Nebraska and Mississippi State. He is one of the most athletic players still considering Nebraska he played multiple spots in high school, Quarterback, wide receiver, and kick returner. He is probably the most heavily recruited player still on Nebraska’s list. Moore along with redshirt freshman Taariq Allen, could be the future of the Nebraska’s receiving core.
6. Anthony Standifer, Cornerback, Creete Monee High School, Crete, Illinois: Standifer makes our list for the first time, because he recently reopened his recruiting process after he was previously committed to Michigan. He is 6-foot-1, 178 lbs. and is reguarded as a 3 star player by most recruiting sites. The most important thing of landing Standifer could come in the 2013 recruiting class. He is the teammate of one of the top junior prospects in the country in 6-foot-3, 183 lb wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. Standifer could be the key to landing Treadwell.
7. Brandon Beaver, Cornerback, Dominguez High School, Compton California: Beaver was recently considered by most to be a lean towards the Georgia Bulldogs. Surprisingly he cut them from his list and narrowed his list down to Nebraska, Oklahoma, UCLA, Utah, and Washington. Beaver set up a visit to Oklahoma this week, and the Sooners have jumped into the mix when Beaver hadn’t even had him on his list a week ago. Beaver is set to play in the U.S. Army All-American game.
8. Davante Bourque, Runningback, Crowley High School, Crowley, Louisiana: Bourque has recently withdrawn his verbal commitment from the No.1 ranked LSU Tigers. Even though Nebraska has three very talented freshmen runningbacks on their roster, Bourque could be exactly what the Nebraska backfield needs. He is 6-foot-3, 200 lbs. and runs angry. He could be the perfect complementary back to the speed that Nebraska has in it’s current backfield. He is a bruising back, and could be a huge play maker for the Huskers.
9. Quanzell Lambert, Linebacker, Timber Creek High School, Sicklerville, New Jersey: Lambert is set to make his announcement Thursday. With the commitment of Afalava this week, Nebraska has 4 linebackers committed in this class, that could hurt the Huskers chances of landing him. Lambert is considered by most to be an Iowa lean. He is down to four schools, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern, and Rutgers. Lambert will be announcing his decision Thursday from his school with his teammates.
10. Nate Iese, Defensive End/ Tight End, Sheldon High School, Elk Grove, California: Iese is down to two schools in UCLA and Nebraska. If he comes to Nebraska he will get a shot at tight end which is probably the biggest selling point for Nebraska. I think the distance, and his friend Marcus Rios being at UCLA may be to much to pull him away from the West Coast.
