Guarantweeping A Win Tonight

Tonight’s gonna be a good night…….

Don’t you guys love that song?!? YEA!

Well, actually, that song bothered me enough one night to inspire a Facebook status that stated that song made me want to punch babies. But, it makes for a good headline!

The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team has yet to win a road game. All season. None.

But tonight, they travel to the stink-hole known as Norman, Oklahoma in search of that first win, and I got a good feeling.

The Oklahoma Sooners come into tonight’s game with an identical 4-6 record inside the Big 12 Conference. They’re last time on the court was a 24 point beatdown handed down by the Missouri Tigers.

Aside from an in-conference 4 game winning streak, the Sooners have been a rather pedestrian Basketball squad. The kind of team that these Huskers can defeat on the road.

It’s not that Nebraska has played poorly on the road, they just can’t seem to come away victorious. They led KU by 10 points in the second half in Allen Fieldhouse. That’s almost an accomplishment in itself, even if they lost the game by 3 points.

The Huskers also played good in Columbia against the Missouri Tigers, losing by only 8 points, against a team that’s been ranked throughout the season. They lost to Texas Tech in Lubbock by 1 measly point on a tip-in with 4 seconds left in the game. And a week ago they came up just short against Baylor.

Their only truly bad performance was against K-State where they were never really in the game and ended up losing by 16 points.

Now this would be the point of the article where I breakdown the game and tell you exactly why the Huskers are gonna emerge victorious tonight, but, well, I don’t know all that much about Oklahoma.

A quick search shows me they got 3 dudes averaging double figures, two of which I’ve never heard of (Fitzgerald and Pledger), while the third is the fruity Cade Davis.

I really don’t think that Nebraska will finish the season winless on the road, especially with how well they play, and they’ve only got 3 roadies left. Iowa State and Colorado remain after this, both winnable games.

However, I think the clock strikes 12 tonight. In fact, I’m guarantweeting it. If the Huskers lose tonight, I’ll be tweeting out ‘Boomer Sooner’ sentiments all day tomorrow. And I’ll even try to keep them unsarcastic.

As dirty as I’d feel for committing that act (I’d have to shower multiple times tomorrow), I feel that confident in the Huskers tonight.

Husker Power!
