Predicting Tomorrow’s Big 12 Games

Oklahoma @ Missouri 12:30 PM

It’s possible that Missouri is coming its best performance of the year in a 17 point loss at Kansas, and that’s not an exaggeration. Oklahoma had their eyes set on a 5th straight conference win but blew a lead at Oklahoma St. It wouldn’t surprise me if they lost out the rest of the season. Missouri needs to get back on track because they should be the 3rd best team in this conference.

Prediction: Missouri 89, Oklahoma 72

Texas A&M @ Texas Tech 12:30 PM

The Aggies field a pretty impressive resume sans their two blowouts to Texas. They could be succeptible to a letdown after coming off back-to-back overtime games. They are the superior team to the Red Raiders, but Tech has knocked off superior teams like Nebraska and Oklahoma St. at home already. I think this one is close, but the Aggies will pull out a much needed victory.

Prediction: Texas A&M 75, Texas Tech 69

Iowa St. @ Kansas 3 PM

KU will be shorthanded without Josh Selby (who’s still recovering from a stress reaction in his foot) or Thomas Robinson (who just had surgery for a torn meniscus in his knee), so the Cyclones might have a chance to play them close. Ehh, not really, just trying to create interest. KU is in need of a Texas loss to capture their 6th straight Big 12 Championship. For an in-depth look at KU click here.

Prediction: Kansas 80, Iowa St. 59

Baylor @ Texas 3 PM

The Bears are making their bid to become the 3rd best team in the conference, and would fully secure that fact with a win over the Longhorns. Baylor is very inconsistent, but have the talent to contend with the Horns if they bring their game. Texas has been slaying opponents, and have won every conference game by double digits. The Longhorns are staring an undefeated conference season in the face, a feat that hasn’t happened since KU did in 2001-02. I think the Bears fight hard, but they start caring about the game just a bit too late.

Prediction: Texas 82, Baylor 76

Oklahoma St. @ Nebraska 6 PM

The Huskers have really killed any chances of an NCAA Tournament berth with their current 3 game losing streak. However, a respectable season can still be salvaged, beginning with this very winnable game. They have to stop the Cowboys lil’ piglet leader, Keiton Page, who likes to shoot 3’s and roll in the mud in his free time. Oklahoma St. is coming off back-to-back wins which means they’re due for a road loss.

Prediction: Nebraska 58, Oklahoma St. 54

Kansas St. @ Colorado 8 PM

The conference’s game of the day. The Wildcats are hovering right on the brink of the bubble right now. They lost to the Buffaloes earlier this year at home, but now get their chance at revenge. K-State’s season has swirled with controversy with two players already leaving the program, and rumors afloat about Curtis Kelly failing a drug test this week. Colorado got off to a 3-0 start in the conference, but have since settled back to a pedestrian 4-6. I expect K-State’s best effort of the season with their season potentially on the line. Should be a barnburner.

Prediction: Kansas St. 63, Colorado 61
