The Nebraska football team’s wide receiver corps is going to be extremely young following the 2017 season. However, it can pick up some major talent in a hurry even if the prospect is currently committed.

Here’s what we know about Nebraska’s wideout situation heading into the 2018 recruiting cycle:

De’Mornay Pierson-El and Gabe Rahn, likely to be two of the most productive wide receivers in 2017 are on their way out. Stanley Morgan, Keyan Williams and Zack Darlington will be seniors in 2018 and we still don’t know what Williams or Darlington can bring to the table.

What Nebraska football fans will see is a youth movement with JD Spielman, Tyjon Lindsey, Jaevon McQuitty and Keyshawn Johnson, Jr. Wide receivers coach Keith Williams must find quality talent that will come in and immediately jockey for playing time or at least provide competition in camp.

Enter Manuel Allen.

Allen is currently committed to USC, but as Williams so elegantly put it during this past cycle:

Ranked a four-star by the 247Sports Composite Index, Allen is also considered the 102nd best prospect in the country and No. 18 wide receiver overall.

As a junior, Allen caught 44 receptions for 589 yards and 4 touchdowns, averaging 54 yards per game.

Considering the connections that Nebraska’s staff has in California and what the Huskers can offer versus USC in terms of playing time, there’s potential for the Cornhuskers to yank Allen away.

The Trojans will continue to sign a glut of wide receivers and have plenty of luck with the big dogs, but should Allen come to Nebraska, he has a chance to be THE man as opposed to being a man if he signs with USC.

Don’t be surprised if Allen decides to stop by Lincoln, Neb. in the coming months to see what The Good Life is all about for himself.
