Huskers Make No Movement In Latest AP Poll

Despite their second straight blowout victory, the Huskers are not getting anything close to national recognition in the polls.

In fact, in the latest AP Polls released on Sunday, the Nebraska football team got less votes than it did after a win over the Fresno State Bulldogs. It appears most of the National media was not impressed with a fourth quarter surge that ended up carrying Mike Riley’s team to a 35-point win over the Wyoming Cowboys.

One would have to guess that it’s precisely the fact that the Huskers needed to make a surge in order to secure the win that has them still sitting on the outside looking in when it comes to the polls. Among the teams that are getting more than Nebraska’s 11 votes are TCU, Utah, San Diego State, UCLA, Boise State, Pittsburgh and Oklahoma State.

That Oklahoma State team is one that recently lost on a hook and lateral play to Central Michigan. Two teams who were unranked last week that jumped into the polls this week both come from the SEC. The Florida Gators are 2-0 and had actually dropped out of the polls after their season opening win.

    • The Arkansas Razorbacks have jumped into the polls for the first time this season and might be the team the Huskers have the biggest beef against. Arkansas got no votes a week ago, not even the rather paltry 13 Nebraska received. Apparently wins over TCU and Louisana Tech were enough to convince AP Pollsters the Razorbacks belong in the Top 25.

    At the very least that could be taken as good news for the Cornhuskers should be beat the Oregon Ducks next weekend.
